From Sumba Island in Indonesia. Traditionally, these omega-shaed pieces, known as ‘Mamuli’ were used as earrings when elongated earlobes were the norm in Sumba. However, these have been updated to have standard size earring hooks. Because metals are believed to come from the sun and the stars, these pieces are used as a connection to spirits in traditional religion. These are hollow so they are quite light compared to their size. They have antelope motifs.
Comes on the stand as shown so they can be used for display or worn.
