Avalokiteśvara ( also known as Padmapani ) is a bodhisattva who embodies the compassion of all Buddhas. The most powerful forms has 11 heads and 1,000 arms. Often portrayed in the traditions of Tibet and Japan. The heads represent the 11 virtues (including non-attachment, non-violence, and faith). The 1,000 arms symbolize his many powers. Which he uses to lead all beings toward enlightenment. The central pair of arms is shown in a gesture of prayer. While the outer arms often adorned with eyes, signify his ability to see in all directions to identify suffering.
