Rare Brass Shiva Sits Atop Dancing Nandi

A rare brass statue features Lord Shiva atop his sacred eternal mount, Nandi. Handcrafted using Java, Indonesia’s traditional lost-wax technique, this one-of-a-kind art piece displays exceptional quality. Nandi’s defined muscle lines convey immense strength, while his dancing posture expresses joyful loyalty to Shiva.

Nandi (also called Nandikeshwara or Nandideva) is the bull vahana (vehicle) and guardian deity of Lord Shiva’s heavenly abode, Mount Kailash. Derived from Sanskrit, the name Nandi means happiness, joy, and satisfaction. While almost all Shiva temples feature a seated stone Nandi facing the main shrine, this rare representation captures him in a dynamic, expressive pose.
