Description
Mahakala is a deity common to Hinduism and Buddhism. This old hand cast brass Shakti is black Mahakala with his consort Mahakali (also known as Parvati.) The two-armed Mahakala was transformend from the first Buddha Ardhalma and is worshiped for his spiritual wisdom. Ha had lost both weapon in his hands when we got him. A very rare find old Shakti statue.
Mahakala is typically black in color. Just as all colors are absorbed and dissolved into black; all names and forms are said to melt into those of Mahakala. Which symbolizing his all-embracing comprehensive nature. Black can also represent the total absence of color and signifies the nature of Mahakala as ultimate or absolute reality and transcendence of all form.
