Brass heavy weight earrings from Borneo Kalimantan Dayak Orang Ulu.
Orang Ulu of Borneo valued the heavy ear ornaments. Worn by dozens of generations living in the jungle of Borneo. Most of such brass earrings were hang on a strap and placed in stretched earlobes’ holes. The brass earrings were easy to change in the markets, and could be used as their currency.
Borneo is the third biggest island in the world. It comprises three countries – Malaysia, Brunei on the north side and Indonesia on the south. The Indonesians refer to their part of the island as Kalimantan.
