Old Mahakala brass sculpture from Tibet. Very detailed delicate piece. Made in multiple adjustable pieces. The bird in front of the base, the animal figures in the flame, and the flame in the back are all design to remove or add on as you desire.
Mahakala is one of the six protectors of Tibetan Buddhism. It is the furious form of the gentle and empathetic Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva. In Tibetan iconography, he is usually black although he appears in other colors in many occasions. He who has two to six arms, three bulging eyes with flames for eyebrows, and a beard of hooks, with six skulls crowning his head.
Old piece. Due to old age and the previous preserve condition, there are multiple patina area on the sculpture. Condition shown as pictures. One of a kind.
