Qilin (麒麟), or kirin in Japanese, is a mythical hooved chimerical creature. Most known in Chinese and other East Asian cultures. Said to appear with the imminent arrival or passing of a sage or illustrious ruler. We called the female ” lin” (麟), the male “qi “(麒), and “qilin” is a designation for the whole species.
