Hikifurisode are the most favored type of kimono today. This is a wedding kimono, but might better be a after-wedding kimono. It has long, sweeping sleeves and elaborate patterns that run across the back and onto the backs of the sleeves. Also across the front and onto the fronts of the sleeves. This is worn after the ceremony, at the reception. These kimonos have an elegant silhouette reaching down to the trailing hem for an overall effect that is feminine and sophisticated.
Kimono is a traditional Japanese garment and the national dress of Japan. It’s a T-shaped, wrapped-front garment with square sleeves and a rectangular body. Usually worn left side wrapped over right, unless the wearer is deceased. People wear the kimono with a broad sash, called obi, and commonly worn with accessories such as zōri sandals and tabi socks.
There are different types of kimono for men, women and children, varying based on the occasion, the season, the wearer’s age, the wearer’s marital status.
