Hand carved graceful green stone Ganesha on floral base. Vintage piece. With his left tusk in his hand. And his trunk dips the modaks to laddoos in his right hand.
Ganesha’s head and trunk represent “Om”. The cosmic sound from the world was created. Om is a sacred syllable used as a mantra in Hinduism and Buddhism. Written in Sanskrit, “Om” looks like an elephant’s head and trunk.
In sculpture the position of Lord Ganesha’s trunk, there are symbolic meanings. If the trunk turns to the Ganesh’s left, that is the direction for success in the world. To his right, the trunk represents moksha, good for renouncing the world.
