Burmese red lacquer Buddhist Nat from a Buddhist temple in Pakokku, Burma. With very smooth carved face, hands and feet in red lacquer teak wood. Delicate carved pattern over the whole robe. Holding a lotus in his hands. One of a very unique old style of Buddhist Nat we have that is over three hundred years old and still in great condition. The Nat is live size and standing at the base of an antique Burmese Buddhist shrine.
Pakokku is the largest city in the Magway Region of Myanmar. The second most important city of Buddhist monks in Myanmar (Burma) with three Pali university of Buddhism. Buddhism is the practised by the majority of the population.
The Thiho Shin Pagoda (The Lord of Sri Lanka Pagoda), Shwe Ku Pagoda, Shwe Mothtaw Pagoda, Shwe Tant Tit, and Phaung Taw Oo Pagoda are famous pagodas in Pakokku.
