Description
Exquisite full body Tara which is almost 6 feet tall. Hand carved from one piece of lava stone. Carved as the goddess Tara image standing in front of the lotus stella. Beautiful and amazing details throughout the whole body. Graceful and elegant.
Tara, the female consort of Amoghasiddhi (one of the “self-born” buddhas). Also known as Jetsün Dölma (meaning: “Venerable Mother of Liberation”). Often sits on a lotus throne with right leg hanging down, or in walking position, wearing the ornaments of a bodhisattva and holding the closed blue lotus (utpala).
Under the influence of Tibetan Buddhism, the different forms of Tara multiplied to a traditional 108. Tibetan temple banners frequently show 21 different Taras, coloured white, red, and yellow, grouped around a central Green Tara. The figure of the “self-born” Amitabha Buddha sits in her headdress, as she, like Avalokiteshvara, is an emanation of Amitabha.
An amazing piece hand carved out of one piece of lava stone. Could be a stunning piece in the center of the entrance hall. Also seen someone used as an outdoor water wall design in a beautiful garden setting.
One of a kind.
