Description
Antique Burmese carved wood Hsaing Waing drum circle. Beautifully carved from teak wood. This is a delicate carved Burmese musical instrument part that is designed to hold multiple drums inside the circle. Features red lacquered finish, with gold gilt on the outside, embellished with glass and mirror inserts. The Burmese musicians would sit inside and play drums. The leading instruments in the hsaing waing include a circle of 21 tuned drums called pat waing, an oboelike hne, a circle of small, horizontally suspended tuned gongs known as kyi waing, and another set of small gongs called maung hsaing.
This piece came without the drums, though with a glass top as the original owner used it as a magnificent display and table. Kindly noted that the Foo dogs inside the circle are not included. They are there to show how the drum circle could be use as a display table.
Originally from Burma. We got this beautiful piece from a private Burmese antique collector. It is supporting by a wood stand to show its magnificence. One of a kind.
Dimensions: 52″ x 52″ x 15.5″ (The glass dimension is 53″)
