Description
Antique Chinese lotus shoes worn by Chinese women who had bound feet. The shoes are cone or sheath-shaped. Constructed from cotton or silk, and small enough to fit in the palm of a hand. Typically ornately decorated with embroidered designs of flowers on the sole of the shoe.
Even though people no longer practice bound feet. Many lotus shoes survive as artifacts in museums or private collections.
