Description
Antique hand carved wood Barong mask. Represents the mythical creature known as Banaspati Raja, meaning “King of the Forest” in Bali. Also known as the Barong Ket. On this mask, the large, bulging eyes with pigment. Two prominent wooden tusks protrude from either side of the mouth.
He is the king of the spirits, leader of the hosts of good. He is enemy of Rangda, the demon queen and mother of all spirit guarders in the mythological traditions of Bali. The battle between Barong and Rangda represent the eternal battle between good and evil.
