Japanese dolls (人形, ningyō, lit. “human form”) are one of the traditional Japanese crafts.
Japanese Edo period musha ningyo samurai doll. A musha ningyo samurai featuring seated male warrior in elaborate attire made up of brocade silk and mixed material ornamentation. He has finely carved faces, and are lacquered with many coats of gofun (white oyster shell lacquer). Surface wear commensurate with age, including little lose threads area and some attachments.
Edo period, circa 1800. One of a kind. Originally from Japan.
