Japanese Meiji period Musha Ningyo Samurai Doll

Description

A Meiji era musha ningyo samurai doll in sitting position. Complete with double swords, and fully hand made samurai costume in miniature size. The face in appearance is perfectly made, though now with a tiny crack line commensurate with it’s age . Kindly check all pictures for a better understanding of condition.

Japanese dolls (人形, ningyō, lit. “human form”) are one of the traditional Japanese crafts.

Japanese Meiji period musha ningyo samurai doll. A musha ningyo samurai featuring seated male warrior in elaborate attire made up of brocade silk and mixed material ornamentation. He has finely carved faces, and are lacquered with many coats of gofun (white oyster shell lacquer). Surface wear commensurate with age, including little lose threads area and some attachments.

Meiji period, circa mid 1800. One of a kind. Originally from Japan.
