Nagoya Obi are a hybrid style. There are many variations of Nagoya obi. The typical style has the entire length that wraps around the body sewn in a half width permanently and the exact amount needed to make the ‘taiko’ shape in the back sewn full width. Nagoya obi are less formal and more comfortable because it is lighter.
This beautiful obi was made in traditional tie dye method. With delicate autumn pattern on both side of the obi.Half of the obi is folded 6 inches wide and half 12 inches wide. The half width part is 87 inches long, the full width part is 37 inches long. Full length 123 inches. Only one piece!
