Vintage koi fish jade disc in nine separate discs, hand carved from China. Great delicate intricate carving through each disc, and complete with a magnificent whole. The nine fish with pearl indicate them will transform into nine dragon. The almighty dragon implies great power, which is associated with the dynasty emperors of China, and is a sign of strength and male fertility.
We had this piece into the states about twenty years ago. It’s in great condition. Kindly see pictures for further details. And please noted that the pictures was taken under a condition with some lighting from the ceiling with some reflection in the glass. It isn’t part of the piece.
* In Chinese mythology, the Dragon Gate is located at the top of a waterfall cascading from a legendary mountain. The legend states that while many carp swim upstream against the river’s strong current, few are capable or brave enough for the final leap over the waterfall. If a carp successfully makes the jump, it is transformed into a powerful dragon.
