Old hand cast brass Ganesha with mother goddess Parvati in his arm. He stands atop a lotus base. Old piece and was worshiped in the temple in India. Only one piece available.
Lord Ganesha was NOT born in a conventional manner as supposed to be . So his presence was unknown to Lord Shiva as it was outside the realm of his consciousness. It is said that, unknown to her husband, Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati created an idol of a boy out of turmeric powder and gave it life. As a result, Lord Shiva became enraged and decapitated Ganesha’s head when Ganesha refused to let him enter his home because Goddess Parvati was taking a bath there.
Ganesha in the Shiva Purana exhibits extreme violence while carrying out his mother’s commands. He is impossible for even Shiva and Vishnu to beat in a fair duel. Finally, Ganesha is diverted by Vishnu while Shiva cuts off his head. In order to defeat the son of Parvati.
