Description

Panchamukha is a Sanskrit word meaning : five-faced. The origin of Sri Panchamukha Hanuman is from the Ramayana story.

Faces represent deities – Hanuman (the central monkey-faced god), Varaha (the boar faced god – an avatar of Vishnu), Garuda (the bird like god), Narasimha (the lion faced avatar of Vishnu), and Hayagriva (the horse headed avatar of Vishnu). Each of the arms holds a different weapon – ten in total.

Old brass temple bell from India. With five faces Hanuman atop the bell. This is a very rare and  beautiful piece with a lower sound.
