Buddhists use a prayer box pendant called a “Ghau” in Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan, and India. The Ghau opens to a concealed inner space, to hold a picture of favorite deity, a scroll of sacred mantras, special herbs, or sacred relics. Used as an amulet to ward off negative energy and attract blessings. Also as a portable shrine and is worn on a cord around the neck and hung close to the heart.
Nepalese master craftsman created this extraordinary sterling silver Ghau. Inlaid with sapphire, emerald, lapis lazuli, coral, and turquoise. Rare find old piece and in good condition.
