Hand carved suar wood Buddha Topeng Mask. It is with a very serene and peaceful appearance on his face, beautiful job done on the Buddha’s protuberance. Which is actually called ushnisha in Buddhism. The ushnisha is a three-dimensional oval on top of the head. In Pali scriptures, it is the crown of Buddha, the symbol of his Enlightenment and Enthronement. It represents his expanded wisdom.
The Ushnisha is the thirty-second of the 32 major marks of the Buddha. The thirty-second of these is that the Buddha has a fleshy or cranial protuberance at the top of his head.

Over all, the mask presents a peaceful and quiet feeling for the surrounding. Can easily be hang or sit atop an altar counter. A perfect piece for your meditation room or household use. Made in Indonesia.

**The botanical name for Suar wood is Saman Samanea. Also called Monkey Pod or Rain Tree in some countries. These trees are easy recognized by their umbrella canopy.
The tree usually reaches heights of 50 – 80 feet. It is NOT endangered, and fast growing tropical hardwood with crisscrossed interlocking grains. Which makes it not too heavy but extremely strong. People loves this wood because of its great resistant to decay and dry-wood termites.
