Antique Korean Paulownia Wood Wedding Chest

Beautiful Korean wedding chest finished in deep dark red lacquer and exquisitely inlaid with shimmering mother-of-pearl. The chest features intricate butterfly motifs surrounding the traditional characters for “Blessing” and “Longevity,” symbolizing happiness and prosperity. Also featured atop of the box is the “Double Happiness” character, commonly associated with weddings and celebratory gifts. Early 19th century.
