Description
Hand cast yellow bronze eight arms Ganesha, stands atop the lotus base with his mount Mooshaka. Mushaka, the rat, symbolizes humility and the ability to overcome obstacles. This is Ganesha in a form known as Vighna Ganapati. He is golden in color. His eight arms hold the single tusk, the disc, the arrow-flowers, the hatchet, the a bunch of flowers (pushapamañjari), the sugar-cane stem, the noose, the elephant goad. With the tip of his trunk, he carries a conch.
Ganesha or Ganesh, is one of the best-known and most revered and worshipped deities in the Hindu pantheon and is the Supreme God in the Ganapatya sect. Hindu texts identify him as the son of Parvati and Shiva of the Shaivism tradition, though he is a pan-Hindu god found in its various traditions.
