Rambut Sedana (The Hair of Sedana). The bodies of these statues are constructed from ancient Chinese coins woven together. 24 Karat gold over hardwood makes up the head, hands, feet and accents of the statues.
Traditionally, incense and offerings are put at the feet, and the rising smoke of the incense carries the love and hopes of the people to the Gods. Made by a family in the highest caste, these pieces have been ritually cleansed in a Hindu ceremony. Fine artistry from the island of Bali, Indonesia. Circa 1982.
