Nepalese Inlaid Five Dhyani Buddha Mantra Prayer Book

Traditional Nepalese inlaid Buddhist prayer books combine hand-painted mantras on lokta bark paper with ornate, metal-and-stone-embossed wooden covers.

Unlike Western bound books, traditional Tibetan or Nepalese texts use loose, unbound horizontal manuscript pages nestled between heavy carved wooden covers. Materials: Pages are traditionally hand-written or block-printed on durable daphne bark paper, while deluxe artifact covers feature copper or brass bodies plated in silver or gold. As this one shown here, with higher quality devotional book is embellished with inlaid semi-precious stones, including turquoise, coral, lapis lazuli, and ruby.
