Made in brass with ancient techniques by hand. By local artisans on the island of Timor in Indonesia.
Warriors get these plates upon their successful returns as a reward, and later worn as a symbol of prestige during ceremonies. Because the breast plates are highly valued in their tradition, they also presented as bride price in marriage contracts.
