Vintage Japanese Shinto Uchikake wedding kimono with beautiful hand embroidered thousand carnes in white and silver threads. In Japanese culture, the crane—specifically the red-crowned crane (tancho) is revered as a sacred bird called the “bird of happiness” (tsuru). A magnificent piece in great condition. Hikifurisode are the most favored type of kimono today. It has long, sweeping sleeves and elaborate patterns that run across the back and onto the backs of the sleeves. Also across the front and onto the fronts of the sleeves. These kimonos have an elegant silhouette reaching down to the trailing hem for an overall effect that is feminine and sophisticated.

Usually worn left side wrapped over right, unless the wearer is deceased.
