Description
This magnificent East Asian ceremonial drum pairs vibrant artwork with a commanding, red-lacquered display stand. Each side features a stretched-skin drumhead painted with a coiled dragon (tuanlong). Rendered in dark green and gold against a cream backdrop, the dragon features a flat snout, expressive eyes, and fiery accents—drawing direct inspiration from classic Ming and Qing dynasty imperial motifs.
The drum’s shell and multi-tiered pedestal showcase matching deep crimson lacquer. Reflecting structural elements of Japanese tsuri-daiko (hanging drum) mounts, the stand features a tall central column carved with subtle decorative patterns and matching dragon designs. The entire assembly anchors securely into a broad, three-pronged trestle base, creating a balanced and dramatic focal piece.
